Went to the Anthony Gallery exhibition and had the gallery attendant follow me as well - felt super uncomfortable and pressured to view the works quickly thus limiting my experience.
Yeah, it's really cheesy and rude. We all know we're being watched in any gallery setting, but making the terms so explicit just feels really punitive and awful for a viewing experience. At the same time though, it's (vaguely) productive in how it unpleasantly reifies the gallery as a luxury boutique rather than a space for cultural life. Hoping someone tells them to chill soon though.
